Getting Started: Working From Home
Starting your work from home journey can be both exciting and a bit overwhelming. Most people start with a customer service job when first starting out on the work from home journey due to the abundance of such positions available. Historically, this was the most efficient and straightforward method to secure remote employment. However, with the rise in popularity of remote work, the landscape has shifted, making the customer service sector increasingly competitive. Therefore, one should be ready for the possibility that securing a customer service position may take some time. As you search for your ideal career, consider exploring the side hustles mentioned here to provide financial support during your job search.

Over the past 20 years of working from home, I have tried out AT&T, Cox, and T-Mobile. About a year ago, I made the switch to T-Mobile, and I’m currently paying just $50 a month. Since joining, I have never experienced any outages, and their internet speeds are impressive. They also offer a rewards program through their app, and I even received a Visa debit card as a sign-up bonus. Overall, T-Mobile has proven to be reliable, fast, and budget-friendly. I have been very satisfied with my choice. You can find more information here.
Computer
You will need a newer computer, desktop or laptop, that has a Windows operating system. Many companies require that you have a computer that is no older than 3 to 5 years. Mac computers will not work with the software used by these companies. Listed below are some affordable options.
Monitor
Many companies require you to have a monitor that is at least 20 inches in size. Additionally, some companies may require you to have two monitors.
Webcam
Some companies will require you to be on webcam during training, meetings and while working.
Noise-Canceling Headset
Today, many companies route calls through your computer. You will be using a headset that plugs into your computer to handle those calls. If you are going to be working in a call center, you will be required to have a headset. It should be wired, noise-canceling, and come with a mute and volume control. You will not be able to use a wireless headset. Listed below are some affordable options.
